This past weekend I had a few of my favorite ladies over for a brunch! We had a ton of sweet things, and plenty of alcohol, but I knew we needed something a little bit more filling!
Probably one of the easiest breakfast dishes you could make that has the fanciest impact would be a quiche! I mean, just saying quiche sounds fancy. They’re super easy to make and you can also make them ahead of time. I had a lot to set up for the brunch, so I made my quiche the night before! When it came to back it, I set it out to come to room temperature, then placed in it a 350-degree oven for about 15 minutes, and we were good to go!
I made a quiche with spinach, mushrooms, and onions because I really wanted to have something with a little green in it on my table! Hey, if you get your veggies in, you can eat more scones, right?! But I’ve made a ton of different quiche varieties before, like sausage and cheese quiche, or you could add tomato and spinach and top it off with feta for a more Mediterranean spin!
There’s a ton of different ways to make a quiche which is probably why it’s a staple for any brunch I host!
1 frozen pie shell, thawed
1/2 cup of milk
1/2 cup of heavy cream
1/2 teaspoon of ground garlic
A pinch of red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon of salt
A few cracks of fresh black pepper
1/2 of a yellow onion
1 handful of spinach
3/4 cup of mushrooms, chopped
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Chop up mushrooms and onion to a small dice, about 1/2 inch in thickness.
Take the thawed pie shell and place the mushrooms, onions, and spinach in the bottom of the shell.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and heavy cream. Add in garlic powder, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
Pour egg mixture over the fillings and place pie shell on a sheet pan.
Place sheet pan in the oven and bake for about 50 minutes to one hour. If you notice the edges start to brown too quickly, wrap some foil around them!
The quiche is done when the edges are golden brown and the egg is set!
Allow to cool slightly. Serve with a pinch of flakey salt!
This quiche could not be easier to make! Everything comes together so fast and, before you know it, you have a delicious meal in front of you! The leftovers are pretty good too!
