Creamy, bright Lemon Blueberry Cheese Danish are the perfect way to start your morning! Flakey puff pastry is such a delicious pairing with the cream cheese filling, it's almost like having cheesecake in a slice of puff pastry! Who wouldn't want that!?
What's to Love about Lemon Blueberry Cheese Danish?
If you’re a cheesecake lover, you are going to love these Lemon Cheese Danish!
This recipe starts off using store-bought puff pastry, which makes this recipe come together so fast! Starting off any recipe with flakey, buttery puff pastry is sure to be a hit.
Then the cream cheese filling is a mixture of cream cheese, sugar, and tons of lemon flavor! I use lemon juice and zest to make sure you really get that zing from the lemon!
Adding the swirl of blueberry jam just pairs perfectly with the lemon in the cream cheese mixture. It's the perfect combination for spring!
Putting the two together is just heavenly. I love getting the bites on the edge where you get the flakey puff pastry and some of the cream cheese mixture. It’s the perfect bite!
Fruit Fillers!
I love this recipe with just the cream cheese filling and the blueberry jam; I’m all about that cream cheese!
If you wanted to add some fruit, you could add some sliced strawberries, blueberries, or another kind of berry on top!
I wouldn’t recommend using frozen fruit for this recipe. Frozen fruit tends to have more water content than fresh fruit which can mess p the liquid ration in the cream cheese mixture. So if you want to add fruit, just stick to the fresh stuff!
Ingredient List
- Cream Cheese
- Lemon - I love the pop of lemon these pastries have! It totally brings out the spring time vibes!
- Lemon Extract - I love adding lemon extract to really enhance the lemon flavor!
- Sugar
- Heavy Cream - Heavy cream really helps the cream cheese mixture whip up and create a light and fluffy cream cheese mixture!
- Vanilla
- Eggs
- Puff Pastry - I like to use store-bought to make this recipe easier, but if you have a favorite recipe for puff pastry, you can use that too!
- Blueberry Jam - I love the combination of the blueberry with the lemon! But you can use whichever flavor you like best!
Tips and Tricks
This recipe is a pretty simple one! That’s probably why I love it so much, but I do have a few tips and tricks to make this recipe even easier!
I like to let the puff pastry come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. Letting it come to room temperature makes it a little bit easier to work with.
Don’t let it set out for too much longer than the 30 minutes because you still want the butter to be cold in the puff pastry to create those flakey layers we all know and love!
Make sure the cream cheese is room temperature, too! This helps the recipe come together even quicker and helps the cream cheese filling get nice and fluffy! I would set out the cream cheese the same time you set out the puff pastry!
These Lemon Cheese Danish are one of my favorite pastries to snack on! I love the bright zing of the lemon with the creamy, smooth cream cheese filling! It’s the perfect combination of flakey pastry and creamy center!
Cheers!

Hello - excited to make these but I see the amount of vanilla is left out of the recipe, how much should it be? Thanks!
Holly Michelle
Oops! Thanks for letting me know! I just updated the recipe but it should be 1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla extract!
Kay Jirovsky
How big should the pastry be? How many inches long and wide? Thanks!
