Why You'll Love This Recipe

These Pecan Pie Brownies are easy to throw together using a store-bought shortcut, but create a total showstopper!

Pecan Pie Filling

When it comes to pies, the filling is always my favorite part! The crust is just the container to transport that delicious filling! Pumpkin pie, apple pie, pecan pie, I'm really just here for the filling. That's why I love these brownies so much! I get a rich chocolatey brownie with the perfect pecan pie filling!

This pecan pie topping is the perfect combination of a sauce and a filling! It pours out easily over the brownies but then sets perfectly! I like to let it set in the fridge for about an hour before I cut it!

Brownie Recipe

Fudgey, cakey, dark chocolate, the options for brownies are endless! If you have a favorite brownie recipe, I welcome you to make that instead! The whole point of this recipe is to be something you can throw together quickly, but still has amazing flavor!

Because of this, I love using a box brownie mix! I recommend you use whichever one is going to be your favorite! Since each brownie mix can be slightly different, be sure to read the back of the box to see what other ingredients you might need!

Ingredients

  • Brownie Mix
  • Cinnamon
  • Butter
  • Brown Sugar
  • Cornstarch
  • Heavy Cream
  • Pecans
  • Vanilla Extract

See recipe below for all the details!

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Step 1: Make brownie mix according to package directions, adding cinnamon and vanilla.
  1. Step 2: Pour into square pan and bake.
  1. Step 3: Add butter and sugar to a saucepan. After bubbling for a few minutes, add heavy cream, pecans, vanilla, and cornstarch.
  1. Step 4: Pour over cooled brownies and let set!

Hint: You can use whatever brownie mix you would like for this recipe, I prefer a fudgy brownie, but this is totally up to you!

Variations and Substitutions

I love these easy Pecan Pie Brownies! I could eat the whole pan myself! Here are a few other options you might like!

  • Dark Chocolate - add some dark chocolate chips to the brownie mixture for extra chocolatey goodness!
  • Bourbon - add a splash of bourbon to the brown sugar mixture before adding the heavy cream so the alcohol cooks off but the flavor remains!
  • Butterscotch Chips - add butterscotch chips to the brownie mixture for a little extra depth of flavor!

Equipment

Square Pan - I like to use a square pan for this recipe to get nice and thick brownies! You can use a rectangular pan or even a cake dish as well!

Parchment Paper - Parchment paper helps with removing the brownies from the pan! I always use parchment paper to make sure everything comes out cleanly from the pan!

Top tip

This is a great recipe to make in stages! You can make the brownies the night before or even a day or two in advance and make the pecan pie topping before the guests arrive! Just make sure you give them about an hour to set up!

Storage

  • Room Temperature - store in an airtight container for about 2-3 days
  • Refrigerator - store in an airtight container for about 4-5 days.

FAQ

What type of brownie mix should I use?

You can use whatever brownie mix you prefer! I love a fudgy brownie though!

Should the pecans be chopped or halves?

This is up to you! I think it's easier to cut the brownies when the pecans are already chopped but pecan halves look a bit prettier! Up to you! For ease of this recipe, I have them chopped!

Cheers!
