Chex Puppy Chow

What even is puppy chow!? Puppy chow is a delicious dessert that’s perfect for road trips, big parties, movie nights, you name it! It’s a super dessert combining chocolate, cereal and powdered sugar as it’s base. From there, you can add candies, peanut butter, nuts, pretzels, chips, you name it!

This recipe typically uses a corn chex cereal, but you can change this depending on your dietary needs!

Chocolate Recipes

For this White Chocolate Peppermint Puppy Chow, I had to use white chocolate (otherwise, the name would be totally misleading)! I love the combination of white chocolate and peppermint together!

However, with puppy chow, you can use whatever chocolate you like best! Because of all the sweetness with the peppermint pieces and powdered sugar, I recommend using a semi-sweet or dark chocolate!

Equipment

Gallon Bag – This recipe uses a gallon sized bag to mix everything together! We love a recipe with a minimal mess and this recipe is perfect for that! If you don’t want to use a plastic bag, or don’t have one on hand, I recommend using something that you can close to help shake everything together!

Glass Bowls – I love using a glass bowl for melting my chocolate! This works great if you’re using the microwave to melt your chocolate or a double boiler! You can shop the glass bowls I use here!

Top tip

The best way to make this recipe is using a large gallon sized bag! It makes it so easy to toss everything in and shake it around! This recipe is perfect for getting the kids involved!

Can I use milk chocolate instead?

Yes! Any kind of chocolate works best here! I personally enjoy white chocolate the best with this recipe!

What type of peppermint pieces should I add?

This is really up to you, you can use candy canes, peppermint bark pieces or any other minty candy! In the baking aisle, they have peppermint pieces that are slightly softer that I really like in this recipe!
