Peanut butter. Chocolate. I mean, honestly, I probably don’t have to say much more than that.
But, I’m going to anyway! Peanut butter and chocolate is obviously an iconic duo that encompasses a majority of chocolate candies found at the store. I decided that I was going to make my own candy this weekend, with simple ingredients I already had in my pantry!
These little bite-sized pieces of perfection are the perfect gift to give! They are so quick to make, you could easily make a batch to give away to friends, family or coworkers! Because they are so easy to make, you could customize this a million different ways! I used milk chocolate for the chocolate layer, but you could swap in dark or white chocolate. I think it would be beautiful to do a dark chocolate shell and drizzle white chocolate on top! The perfect Valentine’s Day gift!
16 ounces of chocolate
1 bag of square snap pretzels
1 jar of crunchy peanut butter
Sprinkles, or topping of choice
Start by spreading a little dollop of peanut butter on to one pretzel square. You want there to be a good amount of peanut butter, but not oozing out the side. Then put another pretzel on top, to form the top half of the sandwich. I went back with a knife to smooth out the sides, in case any peanut butter did pop out. Then place in the freezer.
While the peanut-pretzel sandwiches are hardening up, begin to melt the chocolate in the microwave or a double boiler. I melted mine in the microwave for thirty-second increments until fully melted and shiny. Once the chocolate is melted, you can remove the peanut-pretzel sandwiches from the freezer and begin to cover them in chocolate. I would drop one in at a time and use a fork to scoop it up and then gently tap on the side of the bowl to remove excess chocolate. If you are using any toppings, be sure to sprinkle them on while the chocolate is still soft. I suggest working with one or two at a time. Towards the end of the dipping process, my chocolate did Harden up, so I had to pop it back into the microwave for another thirty seconds! Be careful to watch it thought! Burnt chocolate is one of the few things you can’t save.
Hope you get to make these and marvel in the deliciousness!
