Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Puff Pastry Recipes
Puff pastry is probably one of my love languages! It’s such a great ingredient to have on hand that’s perfect for sweet or savory applications! Instead of using pie crust, I love to top my chicken pot pies with puff pastry! The buttery, crispy edges is perfect with the creamy filling!
Puff pastry is made using a “laminated” dough, which is basically the process of folding butter into the dough. This process usually consists of multiple folds of incorporating butter into each layer of the dough. This results in the flakey, crispy nature of the dough! You’ll find this method is used to make croissants as well, which is why puff pastry and croissants have similar crispy, flakiness!
Cream Cheese Filling
This cream cheese filling is one of my favorites to use for cookies, loaves, and pastries! The addition of the heavy cream helps the mixture whip up into a light and airy filling, while the egg yolk helps bind everything together!

Variations and Substitutions
This Cream Cheese Cherry Almond Danish recipe is so easy to throw together but I have a few variations to make this recipe the ultimate crowd pleaser:
- Extra Berry Flavor – instead of cherry pie filling, add in a few fresh berries on the top!
- Chocolate Chips – leave out the fruit altogether, and add in some chocolate chips to the cream cheese center!
- Cinnamon – Instead of adding fruit or almonds, add a mixture of cinnamon sugar to the edge for a churro-inspired treat!

Equipment
Baking Sheet – Using a large baking sheet allows you plenty of room to place each puff pastry piece and leave plenty of room for them to puff up in the oven! I’ll link my favorite sheet pans here!
Parchment Paper – Parchment paper is the best hack for bakers in the kitchen! It makes clean up a breeze and prevents anything from sticking to the bottom of the tray!!
Rolling Pin – I like to use a rolling pin to gently roll out the puff pastry just slightly! Use whatever rolling pin you have, or even a large bottle of wine works too!
Top tip
Use an egg wash to help the almonds stick to the top of the pastries!!

Storage
- Refrigerator – store in an airtight container for about 3-4 days!
- Freezer – wrap securely in plastic wrap, then freeze for 2-3 months. Then you can reheat them in the microwave!
