Why You’ll Love…

You’ll love how easy it is to whip together this homemade pop tart recipe! With store-bought pie dough, you can have these delicious pop tarts ready in 15-20 minutes! You can use whatever flavors you like to create a delicious and warm fall treat for busy weekday mornings! The best part about these homemade poptarts is that you can customize them for each different season! You can use strawberry jam in the summer, pumpkin in the fall, and add fresh berries for spring! The options really are endless with these easy treat!

Chai Spice Recipe

I love adding chai spice to any and all recipes during fall! From adding to oatmeal, granola, coffee, and more, it’s a great spice to mix together and keep on hand during the cooler months! I like to use a mixture of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, allspice and cardamom! From there, you can add in more of one spice or less of another! I like to really taste the warmth of the ginger and nutmeg with the cinnamon! If you wanted to add a little kick to this mixture, you could add in some black pepper! The pepper adds a bit more punchy warmth to the mixture!

You can use chai spice in any recipe that calls for pumpkin spice! It adds a great warmth to whatever recipe you’re making! It’s one of my favorite fall flavors!

Of course, if you don’t have these spices, you can always substitute in pumpkin pie spice! That will add plenty of warmth and still make these pop tarts delicious!

Substitutions and Additions:

These Homemade Pumpkin Cinnamon Chai Poptarts are perfect for getting really for all the flavors of the fall season! I have a few additions and substitutions for this recipe:

Pumpkin Butter: You can substitute the pumpkin puree for pumpkin butter, whether that’s store-bought or a homemade pumpkin butter! It’s easy to find this time of year and adds a delicious flavor to these pop tarts!

Nuts: To add the perfect little crunch to these treats, you can add in walnuts, pecans, or almonds to the top of the glaze to add a little crunch!

Chai Tea Bags: If you wanted to infuse more chai flavor, you can chai tea concentrate to the glaze or steep the tea bags in the heavy cream before adding to the glaze! That helps infuse these treats with more warm chai flavor!

If you’re looking for more chai treats, be sure to check out my recipe for Browned Butter Chai Cookies! They’re the perfect cookie to enjoy in the cool weather!

Equipment Needed:

Mixing Bowls – Since this recipe requires a few different mixing bowls, I like to use a glass set of mixing bowls to make sure I have a small and medium bowl for each section of the recipe!

Sheet Pan – I use a large sheet pan to give plenty of room for the air to circulate in the oven and allow them to cook evenly!

Parchment Paper – I like to line my baking sheet with parchment paper to help prevent the pop tarts from sticking after they’re done baking! It also helps when you’re adding the glaze to the top of the pop tarts!

Storage Instructions:

I like to store these homemade pop tarts in an airtight container at room temperature for about 3-4 days!

If you want to freeze these poptarts, add them to a freezer tray and let them freeze fully before wrapping in plastic wrap and placing in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to reheat them, pop them into the oven to warm them up or use the microwave!

Helpful Tips and Tricks

When you’re rolling out your pie dough, I like to add a few pinches of flour to the bottom to make sure the pie dough doesn’t stick to the surface and start to tear!

If you wanted to make these Pumpkin Poptarts even more special, you could use a pumpkin  cookie cutter to cut out the pie dough! Just know the smaller they are, the less time they’ll need to bake!

I prefer to use store-bought pie crust to make this recipe even easier, but feel free to use your favorite homemade pie dough!

This is one of those easy homemade recipes that are way better than the store-bought versions! Once you start making homemade poptarts, you’ll never want to go back to the store-bought kind!
