New Way of Making Cereal Treats

Whenever I used to make a bath of these treats, I would add the butter and marshmallow mixture to a large pot then add the rice cereal into it! But the only problem I had with this method is that the pot was so large and it was too bulky to hold when pouring the rice krispie mixture into the final pan to set! I used to just take a spatula and scoop the mixture into the pan! While this method works, it’s a bit cumbersome, especially since you want to work quick so the mixture doesn’t set

Now, my new method is to add the rice cereal and whatever mix-ins (crushed potato chips and pretzels, in this case) to a large bowl and mix it together. Then I melt the marshmallow mixture in a small saucepan! It’s easier to pour the melted marshmallows into the rice cereal mixture and helps everything get incorporated easier!

I hope you use whatever method works best for you! I found this new way to make it a bit easier to mix everything together! Hope it helps!

Equipment Needed:

Large Bowl – I like to use the biggest glass bowl I have to mix everything together!

Sauce Pan – I use a medium size sauce pan to melt the marshmallows and butter!

8 inch pan – You can use whatever size pan you like, from a square pan to a baking dish or even an round cake pan! The size of the pan will determine how thick the treats are! IF you use a smaller pan, the thicker the treat! My personal preference is an 8-inch square pan!

Parchment Paper – Parchment paper allows for easy removal! I like to line my dish with parchment paper to make sure everything comes out, since these marshmallows get sticky!

Helpful Tips and Tricks

I like to keep a bit of nonstick cooking spray around, especially for the rubber spatula when you’re stirring the gooey marshmallow mixture! Everything can get a bit sticky, so the non-stick spray works perfectly!

The best part about this recipe is there’s really no rules here! If you have an ingredient in your pantry add it into the mix! This sweet and salty combination is truly one of my favorite variations of these rice krispies treats! Let me know what flavors you would add to yours!

Cheers!
