One-Pot-Wonder Sausage and Pepper Sliders With a Honey Mustard Sauce

I love a good burger, but I love a great slider even more! I’m not quite sure of the ratio between slider and burgers, but I always assumed 2 sliders equals one big burger. Which always makes me feel a little excited at the chance to eat two burgers.

The idea to make a sausage slider came from a night that we had pork burgers for dinner. I kinda got to thinking that I don’t really have other types of burgers that often; usually, it’s just a beef burger for me.

So when I started thinking about other types of meat, my mind immediately when to Italian sausage. And what goes best with sausage?! Bell peppers, of course!

The honey mustard sauce is probably my favorite part of this. Honey mustard is my go-to dipping sauce of choice at any restaurant but making it home just feels fancy. I like a nice balance between sweet honey flavor and tangy mustard, but you can tweak with the ratios until it hits your flavor preference of choice!


4 sausages, in the casing (could be any flavor)

4 bell peppers, in any color

Olive oil

Parsley, for garnish

Pretzel slider buns

Honey Mustard Sauce:

1/2 cup of mayonnaise

2 tablespoons of whole grain mustard

2 tablespoons of honey

2 teaspoons of yellow mustard

Salt and pepper, to taste

Chop up each colored pepper into about 1-inch squares.

Add a small amount of oil, about 1/2 tablespoon to a pan on medium-high heat, and add the peppers. You don’t want to cook the peppers for too long because we want them to retain their crunch!

Saute peppers for about 3-5 minutes.

While the peppers cook, take the sausage out of the casing and form into small patties. About one small patty per sausage,

After the peppers are done cooking, place them on a separate plate. Add another drizzle of olive oil to the pan and add the patties. Turn the heat down to medium and cover.

Depending on how thin you made the patties, they could cook on each side for about 6-10 minutes. I made my patties a little bit thicker so they took a little bit longer to cook.

While the patties are cooking, you can make the sauce. Combine mayonnaise, mustard, honey, and whole-grain mustard into a small bowl. Stir everything together, then season with salt and pepper.

To assemble, place the patty down on one side of the pretzel bun, top with peppers, a few pieces of chopped parsley. Add a generous smear of honey mustard to the top bun and sandwich together. Add a toothpick to help everything stay together!

I have to say it, this might be my favorite savory dish I’ve made! It has some of my all-time favorite flavors: a soft, chewy pretzel bun; tangy, sweet honey mustard; flavorful, spicy Italian sausage. I could eat this every meal if I had the chance!
