As summer begins to wind down and the temperatures begin to drop, it’s the perfect time to enjoy sitting outside, on a big porch, with a delicious drink in hand.
Don’t you agree?
This drink was inspired by an incredibly delicious Blackberry Margarita I got while out to dinner with my friend! It was balanced so perfectly and went down so easily, I think we may have finished off the whole pitcher…
If you would like to make this as a pitcher instead of individual glasses, I would mix everything together except the blackberries and the lemon-lime soda. Then you can crush the blackberries in the individual drinks to make sure everyone gets a good amount of blackberry in each drink!
The most important part of this drink is adding in the lime juice! The lime juice helps balance out the sweetness from the simple syrup and the blackberries and is a crucial ingredient in any margarita!
To make this drink I used my new Zulay Kitchen Metal Lemon Lime Squeezer. If you think that all lemon squeezers are created equal, think again! This squeezer has two different compartments for juicing lemons and limes which means this is a two-in-one product! I love products that mean I can save crucial space in my kitchen drawers!

Note: This recipe makes enough for two glasses!
4 ounces of simple syrup
2 ounces of Triple Sec
3 ounces of tequila
1/2 cup of blackberries
Lemon-lime soda, optional
Salt for the rim
1/2 cup of water
1/4 cup of sugar
To make the simple syrup, add water and sugar to a small pot on the stove. Simmer at a medium-low temperature for about 5-7 minutes, until all the sugar has dissolved. Set aside and allow to cool.
Slice the lime in half and gently slide it across the rim of the glass. Then dip the top of the glass into the salt.
Place 3-4 blackberries in the bottom of a cup and use a muddler, or the back of a wooden spoon, to gently break up the berries.
Add in the juice of one lime and half of an orange. Followed by 2 ounces of simple syrup and 1 ounce of Triple Sec.
Add in as much or as little tequila as you would like. Then gently stir together.
Add in ice and top off with a little lemon-lime soda.
This drink is just the right balance of sweet and tangy, which makes it the perfect crowd-pleasing drink. So, go make this drink and enjoy the last few weeks of sunny, summer weather!
