Substitutions and Additions:
This Skillet Berry Crumble Recipe is so easy to just throw everything together and bake in a mini cast iron skillet! But the best part of this recipe is all the ways you can customize it!
Crumble Topping: With this crumble topping you can really add whatever you like! From old-fashioned oats, to nuts, to other types of spices, you can really add what you like! You can add in oat flour and cinnamon to turn this into a buttery oat crumble!
Mixed Berries: You can basically use whatever kind of summer berries you like in this recipe! I love the combination of the fresh blueberries with the blackberries! Some of the berries break down and form almost jammy berries in the bottom and it’s some of the best pieces! But you can use whatever you like! You can make this a triple berry crisp and use blackberries, blueberries and raspberries! OR you can adding stone fruit and use peaches and raspberries! I love the tangy berries with the sweet peaches! This time of year you can really add whatever you like!
Citrus: You can also add a bit of lemon juice or lemon zest to this recipe to help brighten up the berries! From lemons, limes, or oranges and grapefruit, just add some zest with your berries to add a bit of tangy zest!

Equipment Needed:
Mini Oven-Safe Dish – Use whatever mini oven safe dish you have! I have a mini 4 inch cast iron skillet that I love using with these mini desserts! It’s perfect for those single serving recipes! You can use a mini cake pan or other ceramic dish as long as it’s oven-safe!
Glass Bowls – I like to use a set of glass bowls, so I can use a small bowl to mix the crumble and another bowl for the berries!

Step 3: Pour blueberry mixture into skillet.

Step 4. Then generously top the blueberry filling with crumble mixture. Bake until the fruit is bubbly and the crumble is golden brown.
Storage Instructions:
Because this is a single serving dessert, there’s really not a lot of leftovers to be saved! However, if you still have some leftover, I recommend letting the skillet or baking dish cool off completely before covering with plastic wrap and storing in the fridge for about 2-3 days!

Helpful Tips and Tricks
You can use fresh or frozen berries with this recipe! If you use frozen berries, be sure to use them straight from the freezer, so they don’t start releasing extra moisture!
