Perfect Cinnamon toast

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone is doing well out there!

Despite the quarantine that surrounds all of us, my Sunday’s seem like the most normal day for me. I still wake up to a delicious breakfast and go to church with my mom. Church just happens to be in her living room, but that’s neither here nor there!

I knew we had plans for us to have some take-out for lunch so I wanted to have a light breakfast that would fill me up just enough to get to lunchtime! This cinnamon toast recipe is the perfect solution for my breakfast conundrum!

Now, this is not your average cinnamon toast. We’re not talking about putting a piece of bread in the toaster, schmearing some butter across the top and sprinkling on some cinnamon-sugar. I’m talking about the next level cinnamon toast here! The reason this cinnamon toast is far superior to all the others is this one is made from a cinnamon sugar compound butter!

Cinnamon sugar butter?! That’s like my three favorite food groups wrapped up in a pretty little bow.

The uses for this butter are literally endless. Having this butter in your fridge could transform every breakfast meal. You could put it on a biscuit, waffles, pancakes, bread, muffins… I’m getting so excited just thinking about it!

Just take a minute, close your eyes, and imagine how transformational this butter would be with chicken and waffles…

My mouth is watering.

I suggest using a thicker bread for this, I try to get like an Italian or French loaf from the bakery in my grocery store. You can definitely use regular sandwich bread, I would just be sparing with the amount of butter you put on it. Using a thicker bread allows the butter to really melt into the bread and the sugars can caramelize on the top a little bit more. However, I’ve made it with both and thoroughly enjoyed it both times!


1 stick of room temperature butter

1/2 cup of white sugar

1/4 cup of brown sugar

1 teaspoon of vanilla

1/2 heaping tablespoon of cinnamon

2 dashes of salt

Thick, crusty bread

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a bowl, place the room temperature butter and smush around a bit. Add in the sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to combine. It might take a couple of minutes but just enjoy this process. Stir confidently, knowing you are a few short minutes away from the perfect cinnamon toast!

Once all combined, spread a generous amount on each piece of bread. Place on a silicone-lined baking sheet and place in the oven for ten minutes. After ten minutes, turn the broiler on and leave in for a couple more minutes. You want to watch this the entire time it’s in the broiler! The edges of the bread can burn quicker than you think, so don’t worry about changing over the wash right now!

Allow to cool a couple of minutes after you bring them out of the oven. You want the sugars to settle slightly so you’ll get a little crunch when you bite into it!

This is probably one of my favorite breakfasts to just throw together! It is so sweet, with the spicy kick of the cinnamon, and the chewy crunch of the bread. It’s a perfect combination that I could eat every morning!
