Why You’ll Love…

You’ll love how easy it Is to make these baked donuts with a cinnamon sugar topping! From the delicious and crunchy brown sugar crumb topping to the soft and fluffy cinnamon donuts, these really do have it all! They come together in 30 minutes and make your whole house smell amazing! Who needs to go to the donut shop when you can make them at home in your pajamas!

Baked Donuts Vs Fried

There’s quite a few differences between baked donuts and fried. Traditional fried donuts typically involve some form of yeast to get it to rise and have that typical donut texture! These baked donuts are more of a cakey donut which means they don’t have yeast and have a similar texture to a muffin.

I prefer to make a baked donut because they’re a bit more hands-off than a fried donut! You don’t have to worry about getting a rise from yeast or dealing with any of the frying oil!

Substitutions and Additions:

These Cinnamon Sugar Donuts are delicious all on their own, but here are a few ways to spice up this donut recipe!

Pumpkin Spice Season – Pumpkin season is coming up and you can swap out the cinnamon for pumpkin spice and enjoy a seasonal spin on these donuts! If that sounds good to you, be sure to check out my Pumpkin Donut Recipe here

Add Some Crunch – Need a bit more crunch in your breakfast? Add some chopped pecans or peanuts to the crumble for a little snap in your donut!

Equipment Needed:

Donut Pan – a donut pan is really a must here to get that classic donut shape! You can find them at your local grocery store or online! If you don’t have one, you can make this recipe in a muffin tin as well!

Piping Bag – I find that it’s easier to pipe in the batter to prevent making a mess! You can use a piping bag and gently pipe the batter halfway up the donut molds! If you don’t have piping bags, you can use large ziplock bag and just snip the corner of the bag to pipe the batter out!

Mixing Bowl – I like to use a few different sets of glass mixing bowls for this recipe, a large bowl for mixing the batter and a small bowl for the crumble topping! I have my favorite set of glass mixing bowls linked my storefront if you would like to check them out!

Helpful Tips and Tricks

The donut pan that I have is a nonstick pan and I’ve found that if I use a nonstick spray the edges of the donut can burn. However, if you’re pan is not a nonstick pan, I recommend adding some form of baking or non-stick cooking spray to the pan to make sure the donuts come out after baking!!

I like to sprinkle the cooled donuts with powdered sugar before serving you could also add a sweet icing by mixing together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to drizzle over the top!

The best part of these Crumb Cake Donuts has got to be the brown sugar cinnamon crumble topping! It’s sweet with the perfect spice from the cinnamon! After it bakes up, it adds the perfect little crunch to the top of these donuts! No morning is completely without a batch of warm donuts baking in the oven!

Cheers!
