Why You'll Love This Recipe

This Salted Caramel Pecan Pie is easy to throw together and tastes so good! It's a cold cup of holiday cheer!

Pecan Pie

I love a good homemade pecan pie, but this is the holidays after all, and we all get busy! If you don't a homemade pecan pie option, there's plenty of good store-bought options! You can typically find pecan pie in the bakery section of your grocery store year round.

There's also plenty of really good frozen pie options, just make sure that you cook the pie first and let it cool down! This recipe is really perfect for leftovers the next day!

Ice Cream Options

There's a lot of good options for ice cream with this milkshake! I chose a classic vanilla because I usually always have vanilla ice cream in my freezer! However, a butter pecan would be delicious or even a cinnamon ice cream if you can find it!

You could even go a little crazy with it and pull in a chocolate or coffee ice cream that would be really delicious as well!

The whole point of this recipe is to go a little crazy, so feel free to follow on your heart right to the ice cream aisle!

  1. Step 3: Pour into milkshake glass.
  1. Step 4: Top with whipped cream and chopped pecans.

Variations and Substitutions

A leftover pie milkshake!? Sign me up forever and always! Here are a few options to spice up your milkshake!

  • Caramel Apple - find a caramel ice cream and substitute pecan pie with apple for a delicious caramel apple pie milkshake!
  • Chocolate Pecan - sub out caramel and vanilla ice cream for chocolate fudge and chocolate ice cream to create a rich, chocolate pecan pie milkshake!
  • Bourbon Kick - add a few splashes of bourbon to turn this in an adult friendly party dessert!

If you like the idea of caramel and apple pie together, try out my Caramel Apple Galette!

Equipment

Blender - The only equipment you really need for this recipe is a blender to get a nice smooth and creamy milkshake mixture!

Top tip

I like to add a little sprinkle of flakey salt to the pecans that I add to the edge of my milkshake glass! This helps add a touch of salt to a pretty sweet milkshake! This part is optional, but I do think it adds to the depth of this dessert!

Storage

  • Unfortunately, this milkshake doesn't store well, so you should make it right as you're ready to serve it! But this recipe is perfect for using up any leftover pie you have from any holiday festivities!

FAQ

Do I have to use pecan pie?

Nope! You can use pumpkin pie, or even apple pie would be delicious!

Can I leave out the pecans at the end?

Absolutely! I like adding a little extra crunch but you can leave them off as well!

Cheers!
