These Spider Peanut Butter Blossoms are a soft and chewy peanut butter cookie topped with a creepy (but still delicious) spider on top!! No brains in this Halloween dessert, it's easy to do and even easier to eat!
What are Spider Peanut Butter Blossoms?
A traditional peanut butter blossom is made with a peanut butter cookie dough and a chocolate kiss on top! The peanut butter cookie dough is rolled in sugar before baking which gives the edges a sparkly, crunchy shell. Right as the cookies come out of the oven, you press the chocolate kiss on top.
The middle is my favorite part because the bottom of the chocolate gets a little melty from the warm cookie but the top still has a bit of crunch to it. So you get a soft melty bottom and a little crunch all in one bite. Plus, chocolate and peanut butter is the ultimate flavor combination!
To make these into spider cookies, we add a little melted chocolate for the legs and add a few eyeball sprinkles! These are creepy and delicious! The perfect treat for any Halloween party!
Store-Bought Peanut Butter Cookie Dough
To make these recipe as easy as possible, I like to use store-bought cookie dough!
At my local grocery store, I found two different kinds of peanut butter cookie dough: one was premade refrigerated dough and the second was a box mix in the baking aisle.
Both of these would work perfectly fine for this recipe! I think the refrigerated dough is a little bit easier since it's already made, but it's up to you!
Regardless of the dough you buy, make sure to roll the cookie dough into balls and don't squish them down before baking! They'll get squished down right after they bake with the chocolate peanut butter cup!
You could also make a homemade peanut butter cookie dough as well!
Tips and Tricks
- When you're making the peanut butter cookie dough, roll the cookie dough into balls before baking. Don't squish them down, even if the package says to!
- While the cookies are baking, unwrap all of the peanut butter cups so you're ready when the cookies come out of the oven. You'll have to work fast while the cookies are still warm so I like to have everything ready!
- Press the peanut butter cups with the larger side down to get the best spider shape!
- Let the cookies cool before adding the spider legs to make it easier to hold!
