What is Chocolate Chia Seed Mousse?
Chocolate Chia Seed Mousse is a mousse made out chia seeds, which creates a light and fluffy dessert with all the benefits of chia seeds!
Chia seeds are a great healthy ingredient to have on hand. They have full of antioxidants, minerals, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids! It's a super nutritious ingredient that you can add to smoothies, puddings, oatmeal, and, most importantly, this mousse!
When you add milk to chia seeds, they soak up the moisture and turn into a thick pudding! You can use whatever kind of milk you like, so this recipe is perfect for people with milk allergies.
Chia Seed Pudding: 2 ways!
There's technically two different desserts that you can get out of this recipe!
- Chia Seed Pudding - If you'd like, you can skip the step of blending the ingredients altogether, and just leave it as a pudding. The mixture will still absorb into the seeds and form a thick pudding. It does have a slight texture to it, but is still super delicious!
- Chia Seed Mousse - By blending all the ingredients together, it creates a smooth and creamy mousse, unlike the texture of the pudding. This mousse is light, airy, and so creamy! I prefer the texture of the mousse over the pudding, but either way is delicious!

Chocolate Chia Seed Mousse
Ingredients
- 1 cup Milk
- ¼ cup Chia Seeds
- 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup
- 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar
- 2 ½ tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
Garnish:
- Whipped Cream
- Chopped Nuts
- Fruit
Instructions
- To a blender, add in chia seeds, maple syrup, vanilla, cocoa powder, and brown sugar.¼ cup Chia Seeds, 1 tablespoon Maple Syrup, 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar, 2 ½ tablespoons Cocoa Powder, 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- Then pour in milk.1 cup Milk
- Pour everything into a blender and blend until smooth.
- Pour into a ramekin and cover.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
