Substitutions and Additions:
These Triple Chocolate Chip Cookies are the perfect combination of cocoa powder, dark chocolate chunks and white chocolate chips! But I have a few substitutions and additions to really make these cookies even better!
Swap Out the Chocolate: You really just need cocoa powder and two types of chocolate for this recipe, so you can add milk chocolate, dark chocolate, semi-sweet or white chocolate in this recipe! Use your favorite combination and trust me when I say, you really can’t have too much chocolate in this recipe!
Add Some Crunch: Add some nuts of some kind of a snappy little crunch in each bite! From peanuts, to hazelnuts, to pecans and more, really any nut will pair deliciously with these cookies!
Add Some Fun Mix-ins: You can really get crazy with this simple chocolate cookie base! From marshmallows, to caramel bits, to toffee bits and more, you can really add a bunch of different mix-ins to this recipe! All will be delicious and pair well with the chocolatey flavor! You could even add in some espresso powder for a little caffeine kick to these cookies!
Extra Salt: If you need an extra salty kick to these cookies, you could add in chopped pretzels or potato chips! That would add a fun little unexpected crunch to these cookies!
If you like the idea of sweet and salty together, you have to try these Sweet and Salty Rice Krispie Treats! It’s the perfect balance of crunchy chips and pretzels with gooey marshmallow throughout! It’s a fun twist on a childhood classic treat!
Equipment Needed:
Medium Bowl – Because this is such a small recipe, you really only need a medium bowl to mix everything together! I would leave the large bowl for a bigger cookie recipe!
Rubber Spatula – I like to use a rubber spatula to mix everything together since there’s just a few ingredients, however you can always use an electric mixer or add everything to a bowl of stand mixer using the paddle attachment! Just be sure to really scrape down the sides of the bowl to make sure you get all of the flour and cocoa powder mixed together. Even the bottom of the bowl can hide extra flour!
Baking Sheet – You can use a small sheet pan for this recipe as long as you can still leave about 2-3 inches of space in-between each cookie!
Parchment Paper – With any cookie recipe, I always line my baking sheet with parchment to prevent any cookie dough from sticking!
Cookie Scoop – You don’t have to use a cookie scoop with this recipe, however it does help to get evenly shaped cookies that all cook up at the same temperature! You don’t have to do this though! You can just divide the dough in half, roll into cookie balls, and place on a baking sheet! Or you could just make one giant cookie and roll the cookie dough all into one cookie! There’s a lot of options with this easy cookie recipe!

Helpful Tips and Tricks
This recipe can make two to three regular size cookies or you can make one giant cookie! It’s up to you on which one you want to make, but just know that you might have to add more time to bake with the giant cookie!
When it comes to the salty bite on top, you can use sea salt, fleur de sel, or flaky salt! I don’t really recommend using table salt because that can dissolve a bit too easily in the cookie! You want to see those flakes of salt on top; that you get the perfect crisp edges with the crunchy top and the chewy center!
If your cookies spread out too much in the oven, you can use a large round cookie cutter to swirl around the cookies right as they come out of the oven. This pushes the warm cookie back into itself creating the perfect round cookie shape! I do this a lot ot make sure the cookies are extra thick and perfectly shaped!
These Single Serve Triple Chocolate Chunk Cookies with Salt are the perfect treat to enjoy whenever that chocolate craving hits! This recipe comes together in less than thirty minutes and makes the perfect gooey cookies that pair just right with a glass of milk!
