A delicious, colorful twist on the classic sugar cookie. These Sprinkle Sugar Cookies are thick, chewy, and made from a cake mix! These come together in less than 10 minutes and only require four ingredients! Talk about a winner.
Box Cake Mix
Box cake mix is probably one of my favorite things! I know that probably sounds weird coming from a baking blogger, but just hear me out!
Most baked goods can be made with a mixture of flour, sugar, leavening agent, eggs, and oil/butter. Using a cake mix takes out three out of the five things! How you can change the eggs and oil can create different things! Adding eggs, oil, and water makes a cake, but just by adding eggs and oil, you get delicious, soft, chewy cookies that you made in a fraction of the time!

Sprinkles and Sprinkles
Believe it or not, the type of sprinkles you use can actually make a difference in the cookies.
My favorite sprinkles are either the flat circle sprinkles or the classic colorful, cylinder sprinkles.
While it doesn’t seem like it makes a difference, some sprinkles can melt down while the cookies are baking and end up turning into a dark brown color. Not exactly the Sprinkle Sugar Cookies we’re looking for.
Another thing you have to be careful of with sprinkles, especially the sprinkle section at the grocery store, is that they have sugar sprinkles that will definitely melt down in your cookies and can even burn on the outside.
The bigger the sprinkle the better it will hold up during the baking process!
You might also be thinking, “why can’t you just use a sprinkle cake mix?” What a great question.
You can definitely use a sprinkle cake mix if you want to! That makes this recipe even easier! I like to add my own sprinkles so I can really punch up the sprinkle factor! But that’s up to you!
Ingredient List
- White Cake Mix - I like to use a white cake mix because I think it really helps the sprinkles pop better! You could use a yellow cake mix or even a sprinkles cake mix to make this recipe even easier!
- Flavorless Oil
- Eggs
- Sprinkles - the more colorful, the better!
Tips and Tricks
These Sprinkle Sugar Cookies tend to spread a lot in the oven, so I recommend leaving a few inches of space in between the cookies while they're baking!
I like to use my medium cookie scoop with these cookies which ends up with a large, delicious, chewy cookie! I wouldn't recommend using a large cookie scoop because that could end up with a really, really huge cookie that will take longer to bake and could end up with uneven baking times.
Cake mix cookies are some of my favorite things to make, especially really colorful ones like these Sprinkle Sugar Cookies!
Bright, colorful, and super easy to make!
It really doesn’t get better than that!
Cheers!
