Rich, fudgy brownies have never looked so good! These Triple Chocolate brownies are loaded with chocolate, easy to make, and just asking to be smothered in ice cream and chocolate sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Triple the Deliciousness
Brownies by themselves are delicious. Brownies with chocolate chips added in are very delicious. But these Triple Chocolate Brownies with TWO kinds of chocolate chips added in?! Out of this world!
The three kinds of chocolate I add to these brownies are cocoa powder, milk chocolate chips, and dark chocolate chips! To me, this is the perfect combination of sweetness without being overly sweet!
If you’re not sure what you want to add, you can just stick to the cocoa powder. After all, they can’t be brownies without cocoa powder being added in, so you kind of have to. You don’t have to add two kinds of chocolate chips if you don’t want to. My recipe only states 1 cup of chocolate chips so you can add just one cup of one kind of chocolate, like just milk chocolate. I like to do half and half because I think the dark chocolate melts better into the brownies and the milk chocolate pops in melty delicious bites!
Totally up to you though! I believe that chocolate chips should be controlled by the heart and not the recipe.
Pan Size Matters
When it comes to brownies, the size of the pan really matters. It sounds kind of silly but it changes the cook time drastically.
I like to make my brownies in an 8x8 square pan. This gives me thick, fudgy, soft brownies while still getting crispy edges. Although, let’s be real, I’m going for the gooey-gooey middle piece. The cook time in this recipe is for this size pan.
If you cooke your brownies in a 9x13 pan, you’ll end up with more brownies for sure, but they’ll be thinner. This will definitely change the cook time! You’re essentially spreading out the batter so it won’t be as thick, which means it will take less time for it be cooked all the way through. I would start checking your brownies at the 25 minute mark!
When you go to test your brownies by inserting a toothpick/skewer/knife, you’ll still want a little bit of gooeyness on the toothpick. The brownies will continue to cook after you pull them out of the oven, so you want to pull them out a little early to get the perfect fudgy brownie.
If you’re cooking in an 8x8 or a 9x9 square pan, following the time in the recipe! If you’re baking in a larger pan, I would check earlier! You don’t want to over-bake your brownies!
Ingredient List
- Butter
- Sugar
- Brown Sugar
- Eggs
- Vanilla
- Flour
- Cocoa Powder - I like to use 100% cocoa powder, unsweetened! This gives you the perfect chocolate flavor!
- Salt
- Chocolate Chips - Use whatever kind of chocolate you think would be best! I use half a cup of milk chocolate and half a cup of dark chocolate for the perfect balance!
Tips and Tricks
To make sure that your brownies come out of the pan after they’re done baking, I recommend using parchment paper. I cut two pieces slightly thinner than the pan and then lay them so they cross over each other to make an x. This way it’s easier to pull them out after they’re done and you still get crisp edges!
When you go to test if your brownies are done, it’s okay if there’s a little ooey gooeyness on the toothpick! There’s still some carryover cooking that happens when you pull them out of the oven so this way you get the perfect fudgy brownies!
You know what’s totally crazy? When I was a kid, I didn’t like brownies… Can you believe that?!?! Now I lay awake at night thinking of how many brownies I’ve missed out on in my life.
I’ll spend the rest of my life making up for it, starting right now, with this batch!
Cheers!
