Creamy, Vanilla Snowflake Cookies

To keep this Christmas Cookie Train on schedule, I have the perfect cookie recipe for you!

This is my go-to classic cookie recipe which I love because it’s so easy to whip together, cooks in no time at all, and still has a nice soft texture to it!

I have used it for many recipes before, but this time I added a little wintery spin by making them snowflakes! You can snowflake cookie cutters everywhere this time of year, but if you can’t, feel free to use whatever you have on hand!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of butter, softened

1 cup of sugar

1 egg

1/2 cup of milk

1 teaspoon of vanilla

3 and 1/2 cups of flour

2 teaspoons of cream of tartar

1 teaspoon of baking soda

1/4 teaspoon of salt

Frosting:

3 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

1 stick of butter

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of vanilla

3 to 4 tablespoons of milk

Clear crystal sprinkles

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until just combined.

Add the egg, milk, and vanilla. Mix together.

In another bowl, add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine.

Slowly, add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture.

Place dough on a floured surface and roll out about 1/4 of an inch in thickness. Use a snowflake cookie cutter to cut out the shapes.

Bake for about 10-12 minutes, they will still be tan in color when they’re done!

While the cookies cool, time to make the frosting.

Combine the butter and powdered sugar into the bowl of a stand mixer. Slowly work up the speed until all the powdered sugar is incorporated.

Then add in the salt, vanilla, and three tablespoons of milk. If the frosting is still too thick, you can add in the remaining tablespoon.

Now, it’s time to frost the cookies!

To frost the cookies, I placed the frosting into a piping bag. Then, I piped down the first spike of the snowflake and went around the cookie filling in each branch of the cookie. Then I dipped the snowflake into the sprinkles to get the crystal, sparkle that snow has!

And that’s how easy it is to make these snowflake cookies! They come together so fast and look stunning! I really think that the sugar sprinkles on top adds the perfect snow effect, plus adds a nice little crunch that I adore!
