This Chocolate Pecan Pie features a fun chocolatey twist on the classic pecan pie we all know and love! After all, the holidays always call for more chocolate, right!?
What's a Chocolate Pecan Pie?
Chocolate Pecan Pie is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: a huge slice of deliciousness! This recipe starts off with my classic pecan pie recipe, sugar, corn syrup, pecans (of course!), and vanilla extract. This combination of the syrup and sugar creates that gooey middle of the pecan pie.
To create extra depth of flavor and more deliciousness, I like to add in chopped chocolate to pie filling! You can use any chocolate you like; milk, semi-sweet, or dark chocolate. I'm not sure how white chocolate would pair, but you know, I can't imagine white chocolate making anything bad!
If you're not feeling the chocolate, you can leave it out! This recipe works either way!
Tips and Tricks
- My biggest tip for making the whole pie process easier is to use store-bought pie crust! If you haven't heard me say it yet, I'll be the first to tell you that I do not enjoy making pie crust at all. I have spent countless hours testing pie crusts and it's not a process I enjoy! To make things easier, I just grab pie dough from the grocery store, pop it in the pan, and go about my pie-making day!
- I like to buy the pecan halves, and not chopped. I love to lay out the pecans on the top of the pie in a pretty pattern, so I always buy the pecan halves. I like to give a rough chop to the pecans that go in the mixture, but the rest I leave in halves!
- As tempting as it may be to slice up this pie right from the oven, it's best to let it set for at least 30 minutes. Letting the pie cool helps the middle firm up and create a cleaner slice. Waiting might be the hardest part of this recipe!
