Chocolate Peppermint Blossoms are the perfect combination of a warm chocolate cookie with a melty peppermint candy on top! These cookies are full of holiday cheer with the best pairing of chocolate and peppermint. If you thought you loved peanut butter blossoms, wait until you try these!
What are Chocolate Peppermint Blossoms?
Chocolate Peppermint Blossoms are the minty cousin to the beloved peanut butter blossom. These cookies start off with a chocolate base that's flavored with cocoa powder and vanilla to create a rich and fudgy chocolate cookie. Then the cookies are rolled in sugar to create that crunchy sugar crust!
Instead of a chocolate candy, these cookies are topped off with a peppermint candy. The chocolate and peppermint combination is perfect for the holidays!
If you didn't want to use peppermint, you could also use a chocolate candy as well! There's no way to go wrong when the cookie base is this delicious!
Tips and Tricks
- I like to roll the cookie dough in my hands first before rolling the cookie dough in sugar. This helps create a better round shape before adding to the sugar. The cookie dough will stay about the same as it bakes so I like to make sure it's round and smooth before baking!
- To help coat the cookie dough, I use a small plate or a shallow bowl. This is an easier way to roll the cookie dough around!
- While the cookies are baking, make sure to unwrap all the candies so they're ready when the cookies come out of the oven.
- When you place the peppermint candy on the warm cookie, I like to press it down just a little bit! The more you press the candy into the hot cookie, the more the candy will melt! Either way will be delicious, it just changes the appearance!
