S’mores. S’mores. S’mores. Even just saying the word fills me with happiness!
I can’t even think of a more classic summertime dessert than the s’more! Sitting around a fire, with your closest family and friends, roasting marshmallows to the perfect level of toastiness before sandwiching them between two graham crackers and a nice piece of smooth, creamy chocolate. Seriously, what could be better than that?!
I’m glad you asked because I have the answer: Inside-Out S’mores!
Everything you love about s’mores, but made inside and with a slight twist! Instead of the chocolate being in the middle, I’ve coated the entire s’mores in chocolate! I’m pretty sure it’s scientifically proven that adding more chocolate always results in a more delicious product. And by scientifically proven, I mean, it’s an essential rule in my life.
I’m not a big fan of starting my own fire, so I found the easiest way to make my own s’mores has to be in the oven! That’s exactly where this recipe was born, toasting perfectly in the oven broiler! You don’t have to coat these in chocolate, you can just place the piece of chocolate in the oven with the marshmallow! I like to coat it because I think it adds a touch of fun, plus you get to add toppings!
The best part about this is the million ways you can customize this! You can add whatever toppings you want: nuts, sprinkles, more chocolate, potato chips (if you want to get really crazy), a little bit of flaky salt. You name it, and you can add it! Another fun way to customize this is what to put on the inside! You have to add a smear of chocolate on the graham crackers to glue them together, but you can switch it up depending on your tastes! You could add a smear of peanut butter, chocolate-hazelnut spread, jams, almond butter, or a different kind of chocolate!
These are so fun and definitely a kid-friendly dessert! All the deliciousness of a s’more, with a fun twist, and none of the bugs!
1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Turn the oven to broil, then prepare your ingredients. Place on layer of graham crackers onto a sheet pan. Add one large marshmallow to each piece. Place in the oven for a couple of minutes. You want the marshmallows to be puffed up and slightly brown. If you have a kitchen torch, you could also use that to get that burnt marshmallow flavor! While the marshmallows are in the oven, using the microwave, melt the chocolate in thirty-second intervals, until fully melted.
Once the marshmallows are golden brown, remove the pan from the oven. Take a small amount of melted chocolate and put on one side of a graham cracker, place this graham cracker on top of the marshmallow, pressing down slightly. The chocolate acts like glue to help the marshmallow and graham cracker stay together. Allow to cool for about thirty minutes or so.
Take one s’mores and dip the bottom into the chocolate and then flip over and dip the top, until it’s completely covered in chocolate!
Allow to set at room temperature until chocolate is hardened!
I think these are the cutest things ever! The marshmallow is so soft and chewy with the crunch of the graham cracker and smooth creamy chocolate on top! I seriously can’t talk about this enough!
