This Bourbon Pumpkin Pie is a fun, zesty twist on the perfect Thanksgiving dessert! The bourbon and orange zest add an extra little zing to the smooth and creamy pumpkin pie! It's going to be your new favorite holiday dessert!
What is a Bourbon Pumpkin Pie?
Bourbon Pumpkin Pie is a fun twist on the classic pumpkin pie! This recipe starts out with a classic pumpkin pie recipe that my grandma used to make every Thanksgiving!
To boost up the flavors of the pie, I add some vanilla extract, orange zest, and a few splashs of bourbon! The orange zest and bourbon pair so beautifully with the pumpkin! It almost increases the spice of the pie without being overwhelming!
If you don't want to add bourbon, you can still leave it out! The orange zest will still brighten the pie and adds a fun flavor combination!
Tips and Tricks
- My ultimate tip for making holiday desserts easier is to use store-bought shortcuts! I love being able to grab some pie crust from the store and make a super delicious pie without the hassle of making pie dough from scratch! You have enough to worry about around the holidays; let the grocery stores help you out!
- When it's time to reduce the heat while the pie bakes, make sure you don't open the oven. Just reduce the heat and leave the pie alone! Opening the oven door too much can cause temperature fluctuations which we don't want!
- If you notice that the edges of the pie crust are starting to get too dark, cut some strips of tin foil, and wrap it around the edges of the pie. This will help prevent them from burning while the pie is still cooking!
