Peppermint
Peppermint is truly one of the best parts of the holidays! It's perfect in candles, coffee, desserts, I can't get enough! For this recipe, I like to use a mixture of two different types of peppermint. The first one is broken up candy cane bits! You can either find this in the holiday section of your grocery store or make your own at home!
The second is a soft peppermint baking chips that you can also find in the baking aisle of your grocery store! I like the textural contrast of the crunchy peppermint with the soft fudge! Feel free to use whatever peppermint pieces you like best!

Variations and Substitutions
Peppermint and fudge were made to go together! But the base fudge layer is pretty simple on it's own! Here are few ways to spice up your next batch of fudge!
- Nutty Twist - add your favorite nut to the fudge for a crunchy, sweet and salty mix!
- Spice - for a fun twist on Mexican hot chocolate, add some cayenne pepper with a little cinnamon for an unexpected surprise!
- Marshmallows - marshmallows make everything better, so add a few marshmallows on top for a perfect addition to your next cup of hot chocolate!

Equipment
Square Pan - I like my fudge to be on the thicker side, so I like to use a square pan to get thicker pieces! You can also use a rectangular dish as well, but the fudge will be thinner! I linked my favorite square pan here!
Parchment Paper - To help make clean up a breeze, and to ensure your fudge doesn't stick, I like to use parchment paper. I use parchment paper all the time when I'm baking so I don't have to worry about any desserts getting stuck to the pan! It's one of my favorite kitchen essentials.
Top tip
To enhance the texture of this fudge, I like to add two different types of peppermint pieces - soft peppermint baking pieces and crunchy candy cane bits!
Storage
- Room Temperature - store in an airtight container for about 7 days!
- Refrigerator - store in an airtight container for about 8-9 days, but let cool slightly before eating!
- Freezer - wrap securely in plastic wrap, then freeze for 2-3 months. Let thaw in the fridge until ready to eat!
FAQ
Yes! I tested a recipe this way as well, so you can also just make a thicker chocolate fudge and pour melted white chocolate on top to still get that peppermint bark fudge vibe!
You can use already chopped peppermint pieces in the baking aisle or you can grab some candy canes and break them into small pieces!
Cheers!
