Spooky White Chocolate Ghosts

Published: Oct 20, 2021 · Modified: Sep 2, 2022 by Holly Michelle · This post may contain affiliate links

It's time to get spooky!

Halloween is just around the corner so that means it's time to get all the spooky desserts out and ready to go!

These ghosts are a spin on my classic sugar cookie recipe by adding crushed-up sandwich cookies! Cookies and cream is one of my favorite combinations so it only makes sense to incorporate that into cookie form!

You can switch these up into any form you'd like! You could do black cats and use dark chocolate instead, or do pumpkins and use an orange candy coating for the glaze!

Recipe note: For these cookies, mix the butter and sugar until just combined! If you over-whip them, it incorporates more air, which could cause the cookies to rise slightly in the oven.

Also, white chocolate can burn really fast, so after you heat it up for thirty seconds, stir it for about 15-20 seconds to see if the white chocolate will melt down any from the residual heat.

Ingredients:

½ cup of butter, softened

1 cup of sugar

1 egg

½ cup of milk

1 teaspoon of vanilla

1 cup of crushed chocolate sandwich cookies

3 and ½ cups of flour

2 teaspoons of cream of tartar

1 teaspoon of baking soda

¼ teaspoon of salt

White Chocolate Glaze:

1 cup of white chocolate chips

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

½ cup of mini chocolate chips, for garnish

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In a food processor, add about 10-15 chocolate sandwich cookies and pulse until completely crushed.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until just combined.

Add the egg, milk, vanilla, and almond extract. Mix together.

In another bowl, add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine.

Slowly, add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture.

Then, add in about 1 cup of the crushed cookies.

Place dough on a floured surface and roll out about ¼ of an inch in thickness.

Bake for about 10-12 minutes, they will still be light in color when they’re done!

While the cookies cool, time to make the glaze.

In a microwave-safe bowl, add the white chocolate chips and coconut oil. Melt in thirty-second intervals until fully melted! Be careful with white chocolate, it can burn easily!

Dip the whole cookie in the white chocolate and then gently tap on the side of the bowl for excess chocolate to slide off.

Then, add three mini chocolate chips for the eyes and the mouth!

Let them rest while the chocolate hardens up!

Aren't these just the cutest little ghosts?! Casper doesn't have anything on these friendly ghosts!
